What do crayons, Haiti and kids have in common?

Every time my friend Aimee - who works at an adoption guesthouse in Haiti - posts on her Instagram, my heart jumps a bit.  What strikes me is the intense, vibrant beauty in the midst of brokenness and poverty.  Every time I see one of Aimee's photos, I receive.  I am given a gift.  The image sticks in my heart.  We all have heard that a picture is worth a thousand words.  It is true.  Let these photos tell the story.  Let these photos awaken beauty in your heart.

Goethe's words have been echoing in my ears for a while now.

"A man should hear a little music,
read a little poetry,
and see a fine picture every day of his life,
in order that worldly cares may not obliterate
the sense of the beautiful
which God has implanted in the human soul.”

Crayons to kids is my small way to encourage children and adults to pursue beauty...to help worldly cares not overwhelm us.

Will you buy crayons with me?

My hope is to involve kids as much as possible. Kids - you could stop at Ayers after school to get a pack of  pipe cleaners or some Crayola crayons.  I would also love it if you would draw a card to one of the kids.  Tim and Aimee are traveling here this week and will be here until the end of the month.  Let's send them to Haiti with a big box of art supplies and cards!!!!

You can drop the supplies off at my house. There will be a box in the mudroom labeled "Supplies for Haiti."   If you don't know my address, please email me.  Or if you need me to pick it up from your house, I would be happy to!

Here is the list of items Aimee sent to me:
Crayola crayons
White paper
Coloring books
Markers
Colored Pipe Cleaners
Strong scissors to help kids with pipe cleaners
Basic white bed sheet to make super hero capes
White coffee filters to do butterfly or flower crafts with the pipe cleaners.

Please visit Aimee's instagram  instagraimee127 or  on Facebook Aimee Wilson for more beautiful photos and to learn more of the story.

Thank you for loving these kids!!!!!!
